The Challenge
Create a simplified POS offering to appeal to a new market while leveraging the existing data structure of our more full-featured product.
My Role
Sole UX Designer working directly with senior leadership to define business requirements, data architects to develop information architecture, and a team of developers to ensure technical feasibility.
Please note that the visual design of the system was dictated by the design patterns already established within the GBU and does not represent my design aesthetics.
About the Project
With the change in leadership comes a change in direction. I worked directly with the new executive to turn an ambiguous business challenge into actionable requirements: to take our complex, aging restaurant management and ordering platform and reshape it into a simple Point-of-Sale platform marketable to small businesses.
By working closely with our internal Subject Matter Experts, the product manager, and the executive, I was able to suss out the current restraints and information architecture of our system in order to create a design that was simple and yet still effective for stand-alone restaurant managers to use.
